Do you have the equalizer or volume normalization enabled in Spotify?

Nope, I turn that off cause it compresses the audio.

Well to be honest, PL, I prefer your older remastered version, at least to my ears.

Really? lol I know I spent a ton of time on it when I did it and sounded great for the vinyl source, but I prefer tape sound if available. More dynamic range, low end and no inner groove wear down sound on the last tunes of each side. On this copy here, for me it was great hearing "Shiva" and "Daily blue" with full range and no wear down sound. Was like hearing them for the first time ever.

I still can't express my opinion cause I don't have the chance to burn it on cd and listen to it on my home stereo yet, and the Mac here is not an adequate equipment.
But I would say I trust the opinion of a pro tech, like PL used to be.

i do get what stackjackson is saying, cause the old remastered version definitely has a lovable sound, but after listening to both, this new one is the better sounding to me. the title track is so wide sounding it's amazing, sounds so big. this vinyl release always sounded a tad muddy to me, but then again i haven't played my vinyl copy in a while. but like the vinyl version of "130 Funky Eyes" already sounds amazing to me. anyway thanks for the upload, always love to hear a classic in a new light.

curious to hear the new version of "113 Season Opening" too, my copy has horrible distortion of the last a-side track "Everblue" (an amazing song).

I'll personally take a flat unprocessed original master tape transfer over vinyl any day. Although vinyl is loved by all, even with the best virgin vinyl pressed material, it will never be able to reproduce what was on the original mixdown tapes.

The tapes will have higher dynamic range, better lows and mids and general breathing space. When cutting the vinyl lacquer they always use what's called a limiter. This is in simple terms to adjust the frequencies for a stylus to be able to handle playing it. And in that you are losing lots of range.

Also, if not using virgin vinyl and using recycled vinyl (which was happening a lot in the 70's through the early 80's everywhere) you get that noticeable inner groove distortion as you near the end of the side. For library, Selected Sound had this issue on many LP's in the later part of the 70's from what i've noticed (like you pointed out about Berry Lipman's classic gem "Everblue", and on the original "On The Road" vinyl like I pointed out). Selected sound got better in the early 80's though with the vinyl pressings. But still could never match a master tape.

KPM, Valentino and Network are the only 3 libraries from the day that come to mind that were pretty consistent as having flawless vinyl pressings without the inner groove distortion at the end of sides.

This is the first time I have downloaded any version "On The Road". I have heard portions on You Tube, but it appears this is a great time to experience the full LP. Thanks for taking the time to upload PL.

I took it upon myself to get this (and some others) from another streaming service who has them in a lossless format. Enjoy!

Special thanks for ST 103!!! Track 03 - Hardy Kingston - Fantastic White - I had recorded ota more than 40 years ago as some unknown track, and I was trying to identify it since about 2 years. Now it just popped up!

Here's a classic like you've never heard it folks. For sure time to retire the vinyl, retire the cleaned up vinyl rips and even retire my cleaned up remaster from the vinyl. This was issued by Selected Sound this year finally, and they did a fabulous job in transferring the original stereo 2 track master, unlike Bruton and some others who like to destroy the audio on their classics reissued, Selected Sound did no tinkering to anything. So wanted to share this with everyone since it's never been posted yet :

PL, it looks like your MEGA link is already down!  In the immortal words of Bill The Cat, "Aaaack!"

But thanks for making the supreme effort, anyways. And now, I'll go about reading the actual thread. I might learn something...

Carry on.   8]

Go up to where your account username is, select from the drop down menu "settings" (be sure you are on a paid monthly premium account - the option is not available for free users), scroll down to music quality, then in the drop down with streaming quality you will see in this order :

Auto
Low
Normal
High
Very High
Super HQ
Local Bandwidth Detection

Select Super HQ, save preferences and you should be all set to go :)

Quite strange as the dropdown seems to be different.

Unfortunately it seems like the Super HQ setting may not be available in my region or I am missing something else. Did some brief research online and it seems like a Spotify hi-fi plan is in the works and they plan to roll out soon. It is rumored to be around an extra $5 a month. I would not be surprised if this Super HQ setting was unavailable in my region at the moment. This is in the latest version of the app for Windows 10 and I do have a premium account active with the advanced settings visible. Very odd, I think I will try to contact their support soon to see if they have any info.
