Someone is selling a complete collection of KPM 100 series, looking for 10,000 for them.  :o Out of my price range and possibly optimistic, but wondered on what members would value them at?

A unique opportunity for sure, but 10.000 / 259 = 38.6 per LP - that's a bit pricy, I think.

I wonder what hed accept as a lowest offer?

With KPM, there are only a handful worth over 200.  A fair amount around the 50 region.

Is there an additional value due to being a full set?  Not to me as Im not a completist and there are plenty of Greensleeves that I hold no interest in.

Id say 3K is a fair price.

Bear in mind that it would be quite frustrating after spending all that money, to have all those KPM LPs and then someone else uploads flacs of most of them on this site! You would wonder then why you spent all that money! I know your discussion was hypothetical, but it's a point to consider.

Too late, of course. All these KPMs have been, and continue to be, made available in lossless here at LMT ;)

I suspect the potential buyer of this complete collection would be interested in more than just digital copies of the music.

Yea, this would be for the die hard collector interested in actually owning the original vinyl LP's physically. If you're just wanting top quality copies of the music, the entire catalog has been issued from the master tapes digitally.

To get those easily, can sign up for a premium Spotify account and stream em all lossless in real time and record em like you're transferring vinyl (which i've done for my own collection with other library classics now available), or like Stack said, can just grab the lossless versions available from LMT here.

Back 10 + years ago though, paying several thousand bucks for a complete collection would have been worth it if you had the money to blow. That's my thoughts on it all...if it matters  ;D ;D

Good idea. As long as you have a good signal chain, that would be better than most FLAC vinyl rips.

Audio Hijack is great mac app for this type of stream rip, it records audio directly, no fuss about settings .
Only problem is compression on sites you want to record, they probably stream 256kbps, who knows maybe even higher.
One thing is sure that youtube is awful in terms of audio quallity, its rare to hear 256kbps on youtube.
Because if you upload for example 320 mp3, youtube compress it down to 128 or 192.
Check the link
https://www.h3xed.com/web-and-internet/youtube-audio-quality-bitrate-240p-360p-480p-720p-1080p
btw this infos are almost 10years old and youtube still uses same encoding system for audio.

So all those fake sites like convert youtube to 320mp3 makes audio even more compressed.

When signing up for and paying for a Spotify premium account, there is no compression and it literally pumps out lossless quality as if you were sitting in your house with a reel to reel player ripping the tape reels.

The way I rip from Spotify lossless stream is with the old Adobe Audition 1.5. I have my settings on the computer I have it on set to where it picks up all internal audio. I treat it just like a vinyl or tape rip and set the recording levels (but using the computer input volume control slider instead of the level slider on my physical mixer that I would do for vinyl or tape).
