Southern Library of Recorded Music- Reel Tapes
« on: May 13, 2020, 05:37:57 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum glad to see there are so many devotees to this music!

I have a collection of open reel tapes from the Southern Library of Recorded Music that I've had for some time. For years i've wanted to digitize them
w/C19..which we are all healthy BTW... i'm having the possibility of doing this.  There are around 350 7" reels

Maybe someone in the forum can help with understand the letter/number coding. These tapes are from the 1960-70's. There's an "SO" lettering on a lot of the reels and some have MQLP. I'm assuming though the years the "SO" was converted to MQLP....which I think I read years ago but can't find any info currently. Anyone?

Any other advice would be apprecited

Nice.  I have almost a full set of the LPs.  Some have the old cat. noís on them?, others donít but I wouldnít be surprised if most were converted to LP.  Be worth checking and see what you have that never made it to vinyl.  Must be rare :-) was Iím a big fan of the label.

Some of the cream has wound up on Bruton comps as they are owned by the same company now.  Check this one:
BRUTON VAULTS ANTHOLOGIES (BVA) - BVA-0014 - TOM FURSE DIGS
But the catalogue hasnít been digitized by them.  Weíve probably done more ourselves on here.
