Title: Hi everyone!
Post by: Snowdog on September 15, 2020, 07:50:50 PM
What an amazing looking site, thanks for letting me join!

Well, I'm not good at brevity but let's see...

Basically, alongside all my "normal" music, I've developed a love of music & sound that's... How can I put it? Less mainstream.

As a kid I would make tapes of the trade test card music, although sadly none survive. More recently there was Johnny Trunk & other such discoveries.

A love of BBC Radiophonic music & Doctor Who soundtracks - something that's been going on for a few years - has kind of escalated over the past few months into a desire to create a library of all the music that's been used in Doctor Who from the beginning, in order & in as good a quality as possible.

This was fuelled by the discovery, a few weeks ago, of dozens of "full soundtrack" files on YouTube. Lossy but acceptable. They would do for the time being, and as I downloaded them, tagged them & made cover art for each one, I realised that they each would have been culled from the isolated soundtracks on the recent blu-ray collections. Of course, I own all of those, so at some point I can set about making my own lossless versions.

In the mean time, I started to collate the tracks I already had, from various Radiophonic & soundtrack CDs.

Fortunately for me, the Doctor Who fan base is such that I knew a list of all the music would be out there somewhere.

Having found it I decided to start at the top & the top led me straight here!  :D

I look forward to learning, to being introduced to loads of new stuff & probably asking a bunch of fool questions along the way.

Hey Snowdog.  I’m not a Dr Who fan but I know I have some of the cues in Chappell records.  If you have a list I could probably get you lossless versions of them.

That would be great!

The problem I have at the moment, is that my source is listed thus:

Musique Electronique: Mood Three - Eric Siday
Musique Electronique: Space Agitato [Looped] - Eric Siday
Musique Electronique: Anaesthesia - Eric Siday
Strangers In The Fog (C) - The New Concert Orchestra (Alan Langford) [Not listed on PasB]
Stress And Anxiety (C) - The New Concert Orchestra (Alan Langford) [Not listed on PasB]
Musique Electronique: Conflict No. 2 - Eric Siday
The Day The Sky Fell In [Slow] - Desmond Leslie
Musique Concrète Pt. 2 (a) - Buxton Orr

So there's not a lot of detail, for someone like myself, to know what label these artists might be attached to.

It was actually searching for the Eric Siday tracks that led me here!

I'll need to do my research, via Discogs, & get some kind of consolidated list together, otherwise I'll be bothering you every five minutes!!

Thanks. :)

Welcome aboard, Snowdog.

You'll probably find those Eric Siday's on the Berry label

The New Concert Orchestras (Alan Langford) will be on Boosey & Hawkes. (1) "Stress & Anxiety" is on Boosey & Hawkes SBH 2963 - Drama

Yes the middle ones are Boosey and I definitely have those.  If you share the list between us and Discogs we’ll find them I’m sure.

This is incredible. Thanks for the welcome messages & the suggestions.

Yes, because I decided to start at the beginning & my first search led me here, the very first thing I found was an Eric Siday "Musique Electronique" set of 10" on Impress, so some of those tracks got ticked off straight away.

The next thing I found was the album "Space Adventures - Music From Doctor Who 1963-1971" I haven't looked at that yet, but it's full of wonderful things!

My source list is here: hzzps://

I could collate the list into something more manageable & start a new thread (presumably in "requests"?) and modify it as I get stuff. Perhaps if anyone has anything on the list, they'll be willing to make it available, but I'm more than happy to be pointed in the right direction & source it myself if that's the done thing.

Obviously, I'm happy to share too. I'm just not sure what I have that might be of interest. I guess I'll get a feel for that as I go along.

I think I have a fair few of these on Boosey, Chappell, De Wolfe etc.  At work now bit will check later.  I particularly like the Martin Slavin dramatics- also used in HG Lewis’ A Taste of Blood’.
