Don't know what it is, but it sounds like what would have happened had Depeche Mode done an instrumental Christmas album in 1983. It's gotta be library whatever it is.

LWT was the parent company of Standard Music - if I'm looking for any music used by LWT they're the first place I'd look, as they tended to be their first choice for obvious reasons.

They were also quite fond of Parry Music in the 80s, so that would be my second choice.

I've got a couple of hundred ex-LWT library LPs from various labels, but I don't think I have this one to my knowledge.

Back in the internet's early days when library music was not documented much, to ID tunes that we knew were not original music for something, we'd have to spend money on "blind buying" (as me and my old friend used to call it). We'd randomly buy different library LP's by specific composers or from libraries that we thought could be good possibilities for the tunes we were trying to ID. About 90% of the time we eventually nailed stuff this way.

For this New Wave Christmas cut here, if it were me looking for it, since no one seems to know anything i'd do the old blind buying spree stunt if I had any kind of potential lead. First thing you'd wanna do is see what were the most common libraries used by the stations or networks that used this tune. Then, narrow it down to a year/era time frame and start there. This is how i used to do it.

I have done a test, it does NOT seem to be KPM/EMI or anything from Universal.  ATV library ended up in Uni  However, Central had Rainbow library which I believe ended up with EMI, however not all cuts where given over, and I hope this isn't one of them.   The fact this piece was used by two different companies from 1983 and 1986, it most have been doing the rounds

I have checked Standard Music, they only seems to be 5 christmas albums online

Parry Music, seems to be alot newer stuff, it not clear which albums were pre 1990, it could well be the older stuff is not online, which has been the case for many pieces.

So that now leaves smaller ones: I doubt carlin or Warner libraries.

However I have spend many a day having to manually look for tracks, a number of libraries but this one has got me and it seems everyone else right stumped at what library it actually come from,

Good job LT! Atmosphere I would have never even thought of to suggest. I thought they wern't around until the very late 80's/early 90's?

THANK YOU, you are a lifesaver.  I can't sat thank you enough.   So that version was used by Central.   Where did the version LWT use come from?  Or is this another case LWT created the piece but then made another version to put on the muisc librarys?

Im allowed to ask for copy of the 3min version?

As above it could well be two versions were made with the shorter one coming later and getting put into a library.

I have been able to see that James Patrick Kaleth and Richard Thomas were in Cavendish music library, however no luck in that one, unless its another album not online?

The full length version of "Xmas Pop" also exists, but it was released only on vinyl called "Modern Christmas Music" [ATMOS 009]: https://www.discogs.com/Unknown-Artist-Modern-Christmas-Music/master/1000415 (only the cuts from side A were re-relased on CD)
