Ace of Wands (Thames TV 1970-72) Library Cues
« on: November 26, 2020, 01:37:49 PM »
Thanks to everyone here who helped out with requests and questions to track down and identify as much of the stock music used in Ace of Wands as possible. Lots of Dewolfe, Boosey, KPM,  Chappell, Southern - all the usual suspects!
Sadly much of Ace of Wands was wiped, and there's no known info on music used in the missing stories (although I'm sure there must have been paperwork to show the cues used at some point), but I've been tracking down the music where the audio does survive.
I've written up the list of all the cues (generally from the electronic/ tension end of the market) which can be found in a series of twitter posts starting here https://twitter.com/fred_owl/status/1330479494419935233?s=20 and most of the identified cues can be found via the pinned link for that account under each story.
Still trying to work out where they got this cue from https://twitter.com/fred_owl/status/1330838669897371649?s=20 Any help there would be very welcome!
I haven't posted the full writeup here as there's quite a lot of it, but they can all be found in the 'Reference' folder via that link in the Fred Owl account!

I'm always interested in these TV or film related posts and although never seen the show I know of it and the library connection.  Give us a shout if you need any specific help or a rip of a particular record.

I will, thank you! I'm fairly sure anything I haven't identified so far is likely to be from mid 1960s up to 1972 when the series finished, this forum is great for looking out for likely candidates from that era. For instance, I found tracks on both Lunar Probe and Electroshake Dewolfes after seeing links posted here, both of which seemed to have the right "feel"

If you have sound files of the unknown tracks someone might spot some for you.

Good idea! Took me a while to work out how to do that but hopefully this works! Could be a music cue, could be an effects cue, could even have been created especially for the series, although all the other music was from stock. I feel I should know where it's from, but I've listened to lots of electronic type albums from late 60s/early 70s and can't find it. Definitely 1972 at the latest. Would be brilliant if anybody can tell me where it's from! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dsf344QLl8H3OceYMKOqU2zhwfzpjesM/view?usp=sharing

If anyone's interested, here's a direct link to the listings of known tracks for the series, in the files named App4-Music

Don't recognise that cue.  Are the lists by series 1-3?
'Time Zero' was used in Rabid in 1976.
BTW I just ripped that BMLP 72 in FLAC if yours is lower bitrate.   Will post on the CHRISTMAS 2020 post.

Great! They used BMLP0072 a lot! I'll look out for it. Yes, the lists start with series 2, since nothing from series 1 still exists so there isn't any audio! Some of series 2 exists as poor quality off-air audio recordings, so I've listed tracks for those episodes, while series 3 exists complete and is available on DVD.
