By chance, I just learned that a book by Bernard Harris ("Wilfred Burns") was published late last year, titled "Barbed-Wire Blues: A Blinded Musician's Memoir of Wartime Captivity 1940-1943".
After enlisting in the army, he was apparently quite badly injured and ended up as a POW. As the title hints at, his injuries left him partially blind.

Hope this might be of interest to some of you :)

I received a copy of Harris' book a few days ago, and though it doesn't extensively detail his work there, it has an interesting note on the stock music business in the UK at the time and how he became "Wilfred Burns":
Quote
He wrote 'mood music', recorded speculatively by publishers hoping to score a radio or later a television spot, signature tune or interlude. However, the main bulk of his work from the late 1940s and earnings in the following decades was from writing, arranging, recording and conducting music for 'B' movies.
When he tried to register with the Performing Rights Society so that he could receive royalties, they already had a Bernard Harris, so it was as Wilfred Burns that he signed most of his contracts. Professional contacts who became friends knew him as Wilf rather than Bernard.

This might very well explain why aliases were so prolific in the UK.

I recently picked up an old Kemp's Film & Television Year Book, an in-industry sort of directory for film and TV production-related services - you know, for those times you need a seamstress, helicopter pilot or pyro technician for your TV movie.
There are a few production music libraries listed in the book, and the rear cover features a neat little KPM ad urging you to literally phone up Robin Phillips himself!

Where can I find these catalogs i want to  buy these? Can I get some help or pdfs?
